Hello my friends,
My top 10 tips
One: Read the service schedule and or service manual for your vehicle. Knowing what service is needed is a great first step.
Two: Ask questions about what service is recommended when you are at the dealership or with your mechanic.
Three: Ask the service department what service is needed and what service may be needed. I usually ask the service department to check first and then fix if needed.
Four: Be careful of service departments who sell you additional products and or services that are not needed or required. Things like air conditioning system cleaners, fuel injection cleaning etc.
Five: If you feel like you are being taken advantage of, or the service department is not listening to you, take your vehicle elsewhere.
Six: It is not always cheaper to go to mechanic or small oil change place. Dealership service departments are more competitive than the used to be years ago.
Seven: The service department representative can’t answer your questions, don’t be afraid to speak to the mechanic or service manager.
Eight: A well maintained car will run better, have less problems and be better on gas as well.
Nine: When major work is needed always compare quotes from several vendors to maximize your savings. You should also consider the replacing your car if it will cost thousands to repair.
Ten: If you spend more time with your mechanic than your spouse, you should consider replacing your vehicle.
If you have questions, I have answers…..
