Never buy a used car before geting all the facts.
Hello my friends,
I trust you are having a fantastic holiday weekend. We should all be thankful for the brave men and women who keep us safe by laying down their lives all over the world.
A good friend of mine was looking at purchasing a used BMW from a local BMW franchise dealership. Before he took the car home, he gave me a call to get my 2 cents on the purchase. I must say I was a little surprised by his experience will the dealership.
The situation was as follows:
He had placed a deposit down on the vehicle and had a few questions, but the salesman told him he had to make a decision on the vehicle by 6 pm the same day. In addition to these “high pressure” tactics he was unable to review the accident history on the car, or see the inspection report before he negotiated on the vehicle or took it home.
My thoughts on this situation are as follows:
A customer should never be pressured into buying any vehicle new or used at any time.
In addition before you purchase any used vehicle you need to know as much as possible about the vehicle before you make a call to purchase it? You need the following information.
One: A copy of the vehicle history through Car fax or Car Proof.
Two: A copy of the safety inspection that was done on the vehicle.
Three: A full or partial service history on the vehicle is possible.
Four: A third part inspection done by someone other that the dealership. If a dealership refuses to provide these details or will not let you get a third party inspection you need to walk away.
In order to know what you are buying and be able to make an informed decision you need all the details first.
Never buy a new or used car that you are not 100% on, and never let the dealership set the terms. You are making the purchase so you should set the terms of the sale.
Have fun buying cars, but don’t let dealers rip you off…..
Ian
